Chrism Mass

...today for our Diocese. Highlights are the renewal of ordination vows and the blessing of the oils. Chatting with the seminarians is also something to look forward to. We'll see what the diocesan choir will be singing. Maybe my friend Edmund C won't be getting a cellphone call from me ranting about the music.

How'd it go?

Sigh! I live in a bubble in our parish and then there's always culture shock whenever I venture out. We have so much work to do.

Two years ago Father P. asked me to recieve the blessed chrism from His Excellency at the Chrism Mass at some mega-church in the diocese.

Before Mass the pastor told us, in no uncertain terms, that we were not to kneel after recieving communion but rather remain standing until everyone recieved Our Lord, and then we sit.
He told us that we MUST do this and cannot vary from it.
This is in direct disobedience to the 2000 GIRM which states the faithful most definitely have the option of kneeling after Communion.

Argent I understand the shock that you experienced.
It does not even seem Catholic.
