Obama would make a better Pope?

Hans Kung thinks so.
The dissident theologian Hans Küng has suggested that Barack Obama would be a better pope than Benedict XVI. “The mood in the church is oppressive," Küng told a German outlet. “Benedict is unteachable in matters of birth control and abortion, arrogant and without transparency and restrictive of freedom and human rights." The theologian who once argued for greater democracy in the Church suggested that the Pope should follow Obama's example and issue executive orders to bring about radical changes in Church doctrine and discipline, "using the power of his executive office to issue decrees."

Huh, I guess no one told Father Kung that the Holy Father is not God

The attitude of the Church is "oppressive" only because Kung can't get his way about modernism and his nihilistic attitudes. Praying for our beloved German Shepherd!

Despite the fact that I would say the same thing about Kung I have to say that in principle I agree with him.
The Holy Father should indeed use the power of his executive office to bring about radical change. I would start with suppressing the use of the vernacular for anything but the readings and homily. Next getting rid of this whole versus populum thing. We can save banishing inappropriate musical instruments for next week.
