Sister Rosetta

...and lest you think that I don't listen to anything by church music, here are two of my favorites who teamed up, Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. Very intriguing collaboration.

grumble....by church music should be BUT church music. drive-by posters who need caffeine to think.

Beautiful. Allison Krauss is one of my favorites as well. What album is that from?

This is from Raising Sand, her collaboration with Robert Plant. I love her sweet and unaffected voice. Karen Matheson of Capercaillie has just that kind of simplicity and luminosity.

I always laugh somewhat when I see Alison Krause's name ... she was a freshman student in my 7:00AM Solfegge class at the University of Illinois in 1987 when I was a teaching assistant. She was also the godchild of my composition teacher, Paul Zonn. I recall when she dropped out halfway through the second semester to leave for a tour in Japan. From there, she just kept going... weird to remember though!

Ooh, solfege....you bring back some memories when I was a rehearsal accompanist for the school of music where I went to university. I was never more entertained than watching and listening to the choir solfege. The director used to toss pieces of chalk at me to make me be quiet. Fond memories.
