Call to Remembrance

It's the third day of Ryan's departure from this life. Things are necessarily sober around here: reciting the Office of the Dead, praying for the repose of Ryan's soul and the comfort of his grieving mother.

I find the Office to be exquisitely eloquent and I'm grateful for it at this time.

It's online here. The words from the Psalms in the context of the Office of the Dead take on a more profound aspect, revealing the creature's dependence on his Creator.
Call to remembrance, O LORD, thy tender mercies, * and thy loving-kindnesses, which have been ever of old.

O remember not the sins and offences of my youth; * but according to thy mercy think thou upon me, O LORD, for thy goodness.

Gracious and righteous is the LORD; * therefore, will he teach sinners in the way. (Ps. 24)
Here is Richard Farrant's setting of Call to Remembrance.

Recordare Jesu pie
quod sum causa tuae viae
ne me perdas illa die.

May God rest his soul.
