Palermo, Sep. 20, 2007 (CWNews.com) - A family Bible probably holds the key to the contacts between a top Italian Mafia leader and his criminal contacts, police belief. It's all a matter of private interpretation!
Bernardo Provenzano, who was arrested on April 11, 2006, apparently used his copy of the Old Testament, dating from 1968, to record names and appointments with his associates. In their efforts to decode the entries, the police sought the assistance of a Catholic theologian, who was asked to help explain why 90% of the words in the Provenzano's copy of the Bible were underlined.
