....saves a stabbed priest's life. From the Daily Telegraph
A MISSIONARY chef has emerged as the hero who saved a Catholic priest from bleeding to death in Sydney today.
After being stabbed by an intruder, Father Ho Tran ran to the chef's unit next to the kitchen, bleeding profusely from a cut to the main artery in his neck.
The chef, a close friend of Father Tran, used a white sheet to stem the blood flow.
After being rushed to hospital in a critical condition, Father Tran has regained consciousness and is now in a stable condition in hospital.
The director and manager of the Divine Word Missionaries residence at Eastwood had emergency surgery after being stabbed repeatedly in the chest and neck - reportedly severing the main artery - when he found a male intruder in the communal kitchen at 4.30am.
He is now recovering in Royal North Shore Hospital.
"He's awake and talking and breathing on his own," a hospital spokeswoman said.
